Seria’s Heat-Seal Travel Pouches: I Tried Them So You Don’t Have To

Every summer, my family heads to the beach almost every week. That means sunscreen, cleansing oil, toner, face wash — an entire skincare routine that needs to travel with me. Full-sized bottles are heavy and bulky. Mini bottles work, but washing them every week gets old, and you can never quite squeeze everything out.

So this summer, I tried something different: Seria’s heat-seal pouches.

Two Types, One Idea

Seria sells two versions of these pouches, and I picked up both.

The first is a flat rectangular pouch — 20 sheets per pack, roughly 5ml capacity. Simple, no frills, sealed shut at the top with a hair straightener.

The second is a single-use pouch with a small nozzle at the bottom for easy dispensing — 8 sheets, also 5ml. The nozzle makes it feel a little more like a proper travel packet, and folding it open to pour liquid in is much easier than it looks.

Both are ¥110.

How It Works

Before I tried them, I wasn’t sure how thick the pouches would be — but holding one in my hand, I was reassured immediately. The material feels solid and substantial, especially considering you’re about to pour liquid in and run a hot iron over it.

Here’s the process: Pour your liquid in through the opening — for the nozzle version, just insert the tip and the pouch opens up easily. I filled mine to about 60% capacity (the instructions say up to 80% is fine, but I played it safe). Then lay a sheet of baking paper over the opening and press a hair straightener on top for about five seconds. Gentle pressure is enough — no need to clamp down hard.

One thing to know: the sealed area gets hot right after. Give it a moment before you touch it.

Did It Actually Work?

Yes. I filled both pouches with my favourite cleansing oil — Bioré The Cleanse, which I’ve been using for years. It removes even heavy makeup completely without any greasy residue, and it’s one of the few things that takes off waterproof mascara without a fight.

After sealing, I turned the pouches upside down to test for leaks. A little air had gotten in, but there was zero leaking. I was genuinely impressed. No weird smell during the sealing process either, which I’d been slightly worried about.

The whole thing took a few minutes and felt almost too easy.

More Uses Than You’d Think

I filled mine with cleansing oil, but honestly, the possibilities go further than skincare. A small amount of soy sauce or ketchup for an outdoor meal. Nail parts or small accessories. A single-use portion of condiment for a bento box. Anything you need in a small, sealed, leak-proof packet.

Both types were in the travel section at my local Seria — and they’re likely available at other 100-yen shops too. If you’re visiting Japan, it’s worth a look. A practical, clever little product for ¥110.
