A Japanese Convenience Store Stop on the Way Home from the Clinic 🍙🍦
This morning, my child woke up with a fever. We headed to the clinic right away, and thankfully, it turned out to be just a mild cold. The doctor prescribed some medicine, and we were on our way home — phew! 😮💨
A Sore Throat Calls for Ice Cream 🍦
On the way back, my child said their throat hurt. That’s when I thought — ice cream! If they can’t eat much, at least something cold and sweet might help. So we made a quick stop at the convenience store nearby.

So Many Onigiri! 🍙
I only meant to grab an ice cream, but the moment I walked in, the onigiri section stopped me in my tracks. There were so many kinds lined up — salmon, tuna mayo, kombu, mixed grain rice, spam… the list goes on! Even as a Japanese mom, I always find myself pausing to look. For visitors to Japan, the convenience store onigiri section is absolutely worth checking out — it’s one of the most “Japan” experiences you can have! 🇯🇵
Prices are around ¥130–¥200 each, and they’re filling, delicious, and easy to eat. Perfect for a quick meal or snack!

The Ice Cream Aisle Did Not Disappoint 🍫
And then there was the ice cream section. Rows and rows of options — cups, bars, sandwiches, you name it. My child’s eyes lit up immediately!
We picked a chocolate ice cream with chocolate chip cookies mixed in — their absolute favorite. With the heat outside and a fever on top of it, cold and sweet was definitely the right call. 😄 They finished every last bite!
Convenience Stores in Japan Are Something Else
Whether you’re sick, tired, or just hungry — Japanese convenience stores always come through. Open 24 hours, packed with fresh food, and always something new to discover. Honestly, even on a tough day like today, a quick konbini stop made everything feel a little better. 💛
